Job summary

First National Technology Solutions (FNTS) is seeking a Sr. IBM iSeries Engineer to join our remote engineering team. You will maintain IBM i / iSeries environments, plan migrations, backups, and break/fix activities, and collaborate with clients to implement solutions. Strong knowledge of IBM i, POWER systems, LPARs, and OS upgrades is required.

The role is remote anywhere in the US with no sponsorship; compensation ranges from $89,828 to $148,215 plus benefits. Travel may be limited.

Qualifications

• IBM iSeries System Administration with 10+ years experience.
• Knowledge of i/OS from V5R4 to V7R3 and major differentiators.
• Experience with POWER systems hardware and LPARs using HMC.
• Experience with storage, JBOD/RAID/SAN, and backups.
• Familiarity with tape save/restore or software replication.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and requests with in-depth analysis and solutions.
• Maintain and configure IBM i OS and LPPs.
• Plan migrations and backups; ensure proper handling of system backups.
• Perform OS upgrades, PTF deployment, and software installation via Image Catalog.
• Work with customers on migration to FNTS or remote management setup.
• Develop and maintain system documentation.
• Participate in infrastructure projects as IBM i SME.
• Support and implement automation/monitoring tools.
