Maximus is seeking a FULL TIME Senior IBM COBOL Developer to support the IRS client. This is a remote position requiring an active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI).

The role involves leading COBOL development, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring code quality through testing and documentation. Candidates should have 5+ years in IBM COBOL and experience with DB2, CICS, SQL, JCL, and batch processing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) required.
• At least five years of IBM COBOL programming experience.
• Experience with DB2 and IBM DB2 utilities.
• Experience with CICS.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interface with all levels of management.
• Ability to perform complex tasks with minimal supervision and guidance.
• Preferred: experience with IRS processing systems; SQL, JCL, Batch processing.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of software solutions meeting business requirements, including design, unit testing, troubleshooting, and proposals to resolve issues.
• Evaluate new coding techniques, tools, and modules and implement where appropriate.
• Consult on requirements elicitation and definition.
• Design software solutions per systems requirements.
• Code software solutions per designs.
• Perform code reviews, unit tests, and integrate modules.
• Assist other developers with guidance and training.
• Support testing and remediation of defects.
• Support users through troubleshooting and analysis of production logs and data.
• Investigate new solutions and techniques to improve coding standards.
