Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Project Engineering Manager to lead a multi-discipline team on North America HV substation projects, guiding design, schedules, budgets, and vendor coordination. The role includes both technical leadership and hands-on design work, with travel up to 20% and potential remote work in the US or Canada.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in utility HV/EHV substation design, North American standards, and proven leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in industrial or utility HV/EHV substation design (or 6 years with a Master's degree and substation design HV/EHV experience)
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% (including international)

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all technical aspects of AC power substation projects.
• Self-perform the physical design with support from a P&C Engineer, Civil Engineer, etc.
• Serve as the primary technical lead on scheduling, standards compliance, value engineering, and design reviews.
• Develop and oversee key design deliverables including power single-line diagrams and equipment specifications.
• Act as single point of contact for technical matters between customers, vendors, PMs, and engineering teams.
• Direct and support engineers to meet specifications, budgets, and timelines.
• Drive cross-discipline coordination for fully integrated substation solutions.
• Review and contribute to ITO process deliverables (conceptual engineering, BOMs, specifications).
• Lead preparation of high-voltage equipment specifications and contractor scopes; may lead subcontracted design work.
• Assist the manager in ensuring productivity and billable utilization.
• Ensure outputs meet CTQs and are delivered on time and within budget.
• Support commissioning and interface efforts with customers and stakeholders
