Job summary

Ad Hoc LLC is seeking a Software Engineer III to work across front-end and back-end systems in a remote-capable environment. The role emphasizes delivering production software, mentoring peers, and collaborating with stakeholders to meet project goals.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of software engineering experience and knowledge of modern web technologies. Compensation aligns with market rates and includes health benefits and flexible PTO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Demonstrated advanced-level knowledge in at least one technical discipline, including front-end, back-end, full-stack, or infrastructure engineering.
• Experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining production software applications.
• Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues and contributing to scalable, maintainable software solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Estimates and completes development tasks including coding, requirements gathering, and analysis with a little feedback and guidance from their team.
• Mentors junior developers and shares knowledge to improve context and skills.
• Diagnoses issues with the systems they own and prioritizes problem areas.
• Participates in on-call rotations as necessary.
• Presents and documents work to internal and external stakeholders.
• Participates in planning sessions to understand major architectures and design patterns.
• Supports recruiting by evaluating homework and assisting with interviews.
• Exhibits a broad understanding of business impact and customer problems.
