Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, Inc. in Montgomery, AL, is seeking an accomplished accounting leader to manage the organization’s accounting operations and ensure a complete, timely financial close.

The role directs accounting policy, internal controls, and external audits, while guiding the CFO and executive team on GAAP compliance and accurate financial reporting for HIMSS and related entities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting; MS or MBA preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• A minimum of ten (10) years (full-time) experience in industry or public accounting, including experience managing remote teams and with organizations with international operations.
• Exceptional accounting and analytical skills; proven ability to mentor and develop accounting professionals.
• Demonstrable experience utilizing technology to meet financial close goals; must conform to regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Direct the activities of the Accounting Department related to monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and deliver complete and reconciled financial information for internal and external statements.
• Develop and enforce financial policies to safeguard assets.
• Manage accounts receivable aging, billings, cash receipts, and merchant accounting; supervise via Assistant Controller.
• Oversee accounts payable, payroll processing, cash control, and tax compliance; supervise via Assistant Controller.
• Ensure GAAP compliance for currency translation and foreign tax liability; manage international entities' accounting activities.
• Lead financial system enhancements and implementations (NetSuite, Concur, ADP) with consultants; develop project plans.
