Job summary

Nava is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a cross-functional engineering team and mentor developers, while contributing technically as needed. You will guide architecture, roadmaps, and delivery of cloud-native microservices on AWS, balancing technical debt and stakeholder expectations.

You will supervise and grow careers, collaborating with product, government partners, and vendors to deliver secure, reliable government-facing solutions with a public-good mindset.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in an agile, multidisciplinary team environment, preferably designing and building cloud platforms.
• 1+ years as a People Manager.
• Experience designing production-grade, cloud-native microservices and RESTful APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and containerized deployment.
• Relational databases with Postgres; JDBC and Hibernate ORM used.
• DevOps with Jenkins CI/CD and AWS cloud native services.
• Data engineering experience is a plus.
• Tenacity to dive into problems and iterate on working code.
• Resourceful, reliable, and detail-oriented with strategic thinking.
• Adaptive, empathetic, collaborative, and positive mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering management and technical leadership to the team.
• Write code and perform code reviews; write and review technical specs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional product teams to identify and mitigate risks.
• Guide planning, estimation, prioritization, trade-offs, and debt balancing.
• Review architecture and designs from other teams; design roadmaps.
• Propose and enforce technical architecture; maintain production systems.
• Handle on-call duties and debug issues; contribute to client growth bids.
• Engage with government stakeholders to gain buy-in on technical initiatives.
• Attend conferences and network with potential clients.
