Tokio Marine HCC International is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Underwriter for a remote, U.S.-focused middle-market book. The role emphasizes E&S construction underwriting, development of profitable book growth, and active marketing to brokers within an assigned territory.

Qualifications

• Must have E&S construction underwriting experience.
• Middle-market focus with premium sizes generally around $18K-$25K (up to ~$100K).
• Not seeking candidates whose experience is primarily small business/artisan, where average premiums are approximately $1,300.
• Able to manage larger, more complex accounts and own a sizable book of business.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new and renewal policy applications and related documents to classify and assess each risk, determine acceptability, assign rating, indicate endorsements and limits, and determine appropriate pricing.
• Contact and respond to verbal and written inquiries from brokers within designated timeframe to provide information and underwriting support.
• Create and maintain all documentation including files, worksheets, and phone conversations according to guidelines.
• Adhere to underwriting authority directives and company policies.
• Approve/deny within given authority or escalate to higher authority as needed.
• Cultivate relationships with internal and external contacts to facilitate underwriting and business development.
• Serve as a resource to staff on underwriting procedures and guidelines.
• Develop understanding of factors that affect policy rating and risk.
