Job summary

Discovery Life Sciences is seeking a Senior Director of Business Development to help consistently develop and close new and repeat business across a U.S. territory selling IHC, Genomics, Proteomics, and Flow Cytometry services.

The role requires eight years of business development experience, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to collaborate with scientific SMEs to secure large-scale projects with substantial revenue potential. Travel up to 50% may be required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of business development sales experience selling genomics, immunohistochemistry (IHC), proteomics, or flow cytometry.
• Bachelor’s degree required; MS or PhD preferred.
• Ability to build and nurture relationships with large pharma clients and potential clients.
• Independent work and strong teamwork capabilities.
• Team-first attitude with drive to achieve company goals.
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Present and evaluate client projects with internal procurement and leadership teams.
• Manage an opportunity pipeline of 25–50+ open opportunities with next steps.
• Advance calls and win business by setting clear next steps and execution.
• Use scientific acumen to close deals without excessive discounts.
• Report market intel to leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with inside sales, Global Account Managers, and Marketing for territory success.
• Generate client reports as needed.
• Respect patient privacy and comply with laws and regulations.
• Attend to other duties as assigned.
