Job summary

Alliance for Justice seeks a Senior Director, Foundation Relations to lead AFJ and AFJ Action Campaign fundraising from foundations. They will partner with the VP of Institutional Advancement and supervise the Senior Foundation Relations Manager, guiding program leaders to secure multi-year support.

The role requires excellent writing, strategic fundraising, and the ability to translate policy goals into compelling foundation proposals for diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Demonstrated political savvy and big-picture thinking with revenue growth.
• Excellent writing and analytical skills for funder communications.
• Ability to manage fast-paced, high-energy fundraising environments.
• Experience leading and mentoring staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead foundation relations for AFJ and AFJ Action Campaign.
• Oversee a foundation portfolio with multi-year funding goals.
• Write and edit strategy memos, donor updates, proposals, and reports.
• Coordinate with program leads to align funding with mission.
• Represent AFJ at foundation meetings and donor briefings.
• Develop and guide fundraising plans and staff
• Monitor revenue performance and adapt plans as needed.
• Collaborate with VP of Institutional Advancement and Senior Manager, Foundation Relations.
