Job summary

Alliance for Justice seeks a Senior Director, Foundation Relations to lead a high‑performing foundations program in Washington, DC. You will grow unrestricted and multi‑year funding from a diverse mix of national and regional funders, and guide AFJ/AFJ Action’s foundation partnerships.

You will craft compelling proposals, coach staff, and partner with leadership to align program strategy with revenue goals, while maintaining excellence in donor communications and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; advanced degree is a plus.
• 10–15 years in foundation/institutional fundraising or similar partnerships.
• Ability to translate policy/advocacy into compelling donor communications.

Responsibilities

• Manage foundation portfolio and secure unrestricted and multi-year funding.
• Develop systems to identify prospects and secure new funding.
• Lead and mentor the Senior Foundation Relations Manager and team.
• Oversee grant proposals, budgets, and donor reports for quality and alignment.
• Lead foundation meetings, briefings, and donor research.
• Draft materials to support leadership in funder engagements.
• Monitor revenue against projections and develop work plans.
