Marqeta, Inc. is seeking a Senior Director, Credit Risk to lead our underwriting organization and develop strategies for scalable credit programs. You will mentor a world-class team and collaborate with Product, Risk Operations, Finance, and Data, while partnering with external bank partners.

The role can be performed remotely within the United States or from our Oakland, CA headquarters, with a focus on building best-in-class credit models and governance.

Qualifications

• 12–15+ years of credit underwriting experience with major banks.
• Advanced statistical background with data-driven approach.
• Ability to mentor and develop a high-performing team.

Responsabilités

• Scale and lead the credit organization for Marqeta's credit business.
• Mentor and grow a team from 2 to 10+ professionals in 1–2 years.
• Oversee portfolio performance for consumer and commercial programs.
• Build underwriting models using advanced statistics and data science.
• Monitor and adjust credit policies based on risk trends.
• Establish credit strategies for co-brand, consumer, and commercial cards.
• Improve underwriting documentation and governance with bank partners.
• Partner with Product to build modern credit stacks and data strategy.
• Represent credit capabilities to customers and bank partners.
• Provide risk consulting to bank partners and customers.
