Job summary

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Senior Dam Safety Engineer – FERC IC to join our team. The role requires a PE license and 15+ years in civil/structural/geotechnical engineering with FERC Part 12D experience. Remote work is possible with flexible hours for the right candidate.

You will manage dam-safety projects, lead PFMA/L2RA analyses, supervise evaluations of earthfill/concrete dams, and mentor junior staff while engaging with clients and regulators on federally-regulated hydroelectric projects.

Qualifications

• B.S. required in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Eng (MS preferred).
• Active PE license in good standing is required.
• 15+ years of engineering consulting experience including FERC Part 12D, dam safety evaluations, and dam engineering design/analysis.
• Experience as FERC-approved Independent Consultant or CDSE or eligible to perform this role.
• Experience as PMFA/L2RA Facilitator on a FERC-regulated project or eligible to perform this role.
• Knowledge of federal and state dam safety standards/guidelines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proposal development.

Responsibilities

• Perform dam safety related work, including FERC Part 12D inspections and CDSE services.
• Lead or participate in PFMA and L2RA workshops.
• Oversee dam safety evaluations of dams, embankments, dikes, and levees.
• Prepare and review dam safety reports (DSSMRs, O&M Manuals, PSPs, ODSPs, EAPs, STI).
• Manage clients, projects, and deliverables.
• Provide dam safety training and lead EAP exercises with clients.
• Conduct meetings, present findings, guide clients/regulators/boards.
• Lead or support remedial designs for earthfill and concrete dams.
• Mentor junior staff on dam safety.
• Marketing, proposal writing, cost estimating, and project scheduling.
• Assist in subcontractor selection/qualification for dam safety activities.
