Job summary

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Senior Dam Safety Engineer - FERC IC to join our team. This role can be fully remote with flexible hours for the right candidate and involves collaborating with clients on federally-regulated hydroelectric projects.

A PE license, 15+ years of dam safety consulting, and experience with PFMA/L2RA are required. You will lead evaluations, prepare reports, manage projects and clients, mentor staff, and help grow our dam safety practice.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering required (MS preferred).
• Active PE license in good standing required.
• 15+ years of engineering consulting with FERC Part 12D and dam safety experience.
• Experience as FERC Independent Consultant or CDSE eligibility.
• PMFA/L2RA facilitator on FERC projects or eligible.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state dam safety standards.
• Excellent communication and proposal development skills.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, GeoStudio, AllPile, Rocscience, and/or HEC-RAS.

Responsibilities

• Perform dam safety work including FERC Part 12D inspections (CAs and PIs) and CDSE services.
• Lead PFMA and L2RA workshops.
• Oversee dam safety evaluations of dams and embankments.
• Prepare and review dam safety reports (DSSMRs, O&M Manuals, PSPs, ODSPs, EAPs, STI).
• Manage clients, projects, and deliverables.
• Provide dam safety training and lead EAP exercises.
• Conduct meetings and present findings to clients/regulators.
• Lead or support remedial dam designs.
• Mentor junior staff on dam safety.
• Marketing, proposals, cost estimating, and scheduling.
