Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Configuration Engineer to lead software builds and CM activities for VA applications. You will drive cloud migration efforts, develop CM tools, and ensure repeatable, compliant release processes across environments.

Ideal candidates have strong CM expertise, experience in regulated settings, and a solid background in DevOps, scripting, and collaboration with stakeholders. This role is fully remote with US-based consideration.

Qualifications

• Experience leading software builds and releases across environments.
• Proven track record in regulated/federal environments.
• Deep expertise in software configuration management and release engineering.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Experience with CM practices: identification, baselining, change control, status accounting.
• Familiarity with source control systems and branching strategies.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and artifact repositories.
• Scripting for automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
• Experience with COTS software, vendor patches, and version control.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software and COTS products.
• Perform CM and release tasks ensuring build parameters are documented and compliant.
• Design/develop/maintain productivity tools to improve modeling and development.
• Create build procedures to support software product development and use.
• Develop CM standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tool usage and quality practices.
• Provide guidance on complex technical problems.
• Operate autonomously and meet deadlines across projects.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
