Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Configuration Engineer to spearhead CM for VA applications and cloud migration. You will design and maintain CM tools, build procedures, and standards, while guiding developers and junior engineers in best practices across multiple environments.

The role emphasizes automation, collaboration with stakeholders, and ensuring repeatable deployment processes in a full-time remote setting.

Qualifications

• Experience leading complex software builds and releases across environments.
• Proven work in regulated or federal-like enterprises.
• Deep expertise in software configuration management and release engineering.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Experience with CM practices: identification, baselining, change control, status accounting.
• Experience with multiple source control and CI/CD tools.
• Proficiency in scripting for automation and IaC.
• Knowledge of software quality standards and governance.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software and COTS.
• Perform CM and release tasks; document parameters and ensure logistically sustainable configurations.
• Design, automate, and maintain productivity tools for software modeling and development.
• Create and implement build procedures supporting product development.
• Develop company-wide software configuration standards.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality standards.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and lead junior analysts/engineers in CM best practices.
