Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Configuration Engineer to lead software configuration management and release activities for VA programs. The role supports cloud migration, CM tool development, and build process automation while ensuring compliance with HW configurations and standards.

Required are CM expertise, DevOps experience, and strong communication. This 100% U.S.-based remote position emphasizes collaboration with internal/external stakeholders and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
10+ years of relevant experience; high proficiency expected.
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance required.
Experience leading software builds and releases in federal environments.
Strong CM and release engineering expertise across multiple environments.
Proficiency with CM tools and QA, DevOps practices, and governance.

Responsibilities

Support VA apps and migrate to the cloud.
Build and sustain CM tools for identification, control and reporting of software assets.
Perform CM and release tasks ensuring parameter documentation and hardware conformity.
Develop automation and productivity tools to improve modeling and development.
Implement build procedures to support product development and deployment.
Establish company-wide software configuration standards.
Train developers on CM tools and quality practices.
Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems.
Collaborate with stakeholders and mentor junior staff.
Maintain compliant, repeatable build and deployment processes.
