Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Configuration Engineer to lead software configuration management, release engineering, and cloud migration efforts for VA environments. This role demands deep CM expertise, enterprise experience, and strong collaboration across departments.

You will design and implement CM processes, train developers, and ensure scalable, auditable build and deployment workflows while guiding teams toward best practices and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years’ relevant experience; eight or more years may be substituted for education.
• U.S. Citizenship required for this specific opportunity; ability to obtain a government security clearance.
• Experience in large, regulated enterprises or federal environments.
• Deep expertise in software configuration management and release engineering.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software (internal and COTS).
• Perform CM and release engineering tasks ensuring documented, compliant builds.
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools to improve software modeling and development.
• Design and implement build procedures to support software product development.
• Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
• Train software developers in CM tools and quality standards.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems.
• Operate autonomously and make sound decisions.
• Ensure compliant, repeatable build and deployment processes across projects.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead and train junior analysts/engineers in CM best practices.
