Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Configuration Engineer to support VA applications and lead cloud migration efforts. You will develop and maintain CM tools, manage builds, and ensure repeatable deployment processes across projects in a remote, U.S.-based setting.

The role requires deep CM, release engineering, and DevOps knowledge, with experience in Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and scripting. Collaboration with stakeholders and mentoring junior staff are key components.

Formación

• Proven ability to lead and deliver complex software builds and releases.
• Experience in regulated or federal environments and software configuration management.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Proficiency with CM practices (identification, baselining, change control, status accounting).
• Experience with source control systems (Git, GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps Repos, Subversion) and branching/merging.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions) and artifact repositories (Nexus, Artifactory).
• Scripting for automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
• Infrastructure as code and environment management (Ansible, Terraform).
• Knowledge of software quality standards, governance frameworks, and training developers on CM tools.

Responsabilidades

• Support VA applications and drive migration to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software.
• Perform CM and release engineering tasks to document, align with hardware configurations, and ensure sustainability.
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools to improve modeling and development.
• Design and implement build procedures to support software product development.
• Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tool usage and quality practices.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems.
• Operate autonomously and make sound decisions.
• Ensure compliant, repeatable build and deployment processes across projects.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and mentor junior analysts/engineers.
