Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a Claims Technical Director Casualty - Auto Liability to lead technical excellence across high-exposure casualty claims. This role requires guiding complex caseloads, coaching handlers, and aligning strategies with coverage and litigation goals.

Roles include exposure evaluation, reserving guidance, and collaboration with defense counsel to optimize outcomes. Remote or hybrid work options are available across multiple U.S. locations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of casualty claims experience, including complex, high-severity and litigated claims.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; professional credentials are a plus (CPCU, AIC, SCLA, JD).
• Strong coverage analysis, investigation strategy, litigation management and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as a senior technical resource for complex casualty claims, including auto bodily injury and high-exposure lawsuits.
• Coach core liability claim handlers on exposure mitigation, reserving and claim lifecycle.
• Lead detailed technical reviews to ensure thorough investigations and accurate valuations.
• Provide guidance on coverage, damage evaluation, exposure assessment, and settlement strategy.
• Partner with defense counsel and manage litigation strategies aligned with company objectives.
