Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Structural Project Engineer to lead design and analysis of transportation bridges, serving state DOTs and municipal clients. You will apply advanced engineering judgment and project leadership to deliver robust, constructible solutions.

This role supports a dynamic team, may be performed remotely or from an RK&K office, with opportunities to mentor engineers, coordinate with regulators, and ensure QA/QC across complex projects in the Orlando area and beyond.

Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years of civil engineering experience focused on bridge design.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis on Structures.
Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Experience with AASHTO, LRFD, and state DOT design manuals.
Proven QA/QC oversight on complex structural designs.
Experience with state DOTs, municipalities, and county agencies.
Strong leadership, communication, and team coordination; mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

Lead design of bridge structures meeting objectives, client expectations, and standards.
Perform and review complex structural analyses using standard software.
Oversee multidisciplinary teams from inception to completion.
Coordinate with contractors, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to manage schedules and budgets.
Ensure QA/QC through design calculations, drawings, and specs.
Resolve design challenges and provide innovative solutions.
Engage with clients to communicate progress and identify value opportunities.
