Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team. You’ll focus on building and scaling backend systems that turn ambiguous ideas into customer-facing products, collaborating with product, ML, and infrastructure teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of Python backend experience, strong distributed systems know-how, and familiarity with data-heavy platforms on AWS. Remote-US based, visa sponsorship not available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years shipping production backend services, especially in Python.
• Experience building and scaling distributed architectures with trade-off awareness.
• Ability to translate vague problems into deployed products with urgency.
• Familiarity with data pipelines and data-heavy systems on AWS.
• Frontend experience with React; interest in agentic or LLM-powered systems.

Responsibilities

• Prototype vague problem statements into deployed products.
• Develop and run production-grade backend services and APIs using Python.
• Design scalable distributed systems to handle increasing customer data.
• Create flexible system designs and evolve them as the company grows.
• Build and maintain data pipelines for analytics and customer-facing features.
• Collaborate with product, ML, and infrastructure teams to deliver customer value, including frontend work when needed.
