Job summary

Avyanna Technologies is seeking a hands-on technical leader to design and build scalable backend services, APIs, and shared enterprise testing capabilities for the ATT program with the U.S. Department of Education.

Primarily remote with possible onsite work in Washington, DC; you will own architecture decisions, drive reliability and security standards, and partner with product, security, and operations teams to deliver mission-critical software.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend experience aligned to scalable, mission-critical systems.
• Experience owning architecture decisions across service boundaries, APIs, data models, and security patterns.
• Experience building and operating backend services in cloud environments and modernizing legacy systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services, APIs, shared services, and integrations.
• Own architecture decisions across service boundaries, APIs, data models, authentication/authorization, failure handling, observability.
• Modernize legacy capabilities into modular services while preserving production stability and backward compatibility.
• Establish and drive engineering standards for reliability, security, correctness, and observability.
• Build automated tests and CI/CD integrations to improve release confidence.
• Partner with product, platform, test, security, and operations teams to solve cross-system problems.
• Provide technical inputs for transition, architecture, modernization, sprint, and performance reporting.
