Job summary

Husch Blackwell LLP is seeking an Associate Director of Benefits & Payroll to lead benefits, retirement and well-being programs, while ensuring compliant, efficient payroll operations across the firm.

Reporting to the Senior Director of HR Operations & Total Rewards, you will guide governance, vendor partnerships and cross-functional initiatives to deliver exceptional employee experiences and operational excellence across multiple locations, with remote flexibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Finance or related field is required.
• CEBS, CPP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR or other relevant certification preferred.
• Eight to ten years of experience in benefits, payroll and/or Total Rewards.
• Experience in a large law firm or professional services organization.
• Experience leading teams and cross-functional initiatives.
• Significant experience administering employee health and welfare benefit programs; experience supporting executive and partner benefits preferred.
• Experience supporting qualified retirement plans and retirement plan governance.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-state payroll operations.
• Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS, DOL, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership for the firm’s benefits, payroll and retirement programs.
• Oversee governance and continuous improvement of benefit and retirement plans.
• Lead well-being strategy and programs aligned with DEI and total rewards.
• Provide payroll leadership with multi-state processing and compliance.
• Coach and develop team members to strengthen capability and service delivery.
• Build partnerships across People & Culture, Finance and external vendors.
• Monitor regulatory developments affecting payroll and benefits and drive necessary changes.
• Lead initiatives to improve efficiency, controls and participant experience.
