Job summary

Clarus is seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to join the Analytics team. This role will own the analytics engineering process, build scalable pipelines, and transform raw data into analytics-ready models using dbt, SQL, Python, and Databricks.

You will collaborate with Data Engineering, BI, and business stakeholders to deliver trusted data assets. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, able to set technical direction while supporting multiple projects, and comfortable working in a remote

Qualifications

• A strong track record leading complex analytics engineering or related initiatives; animal health or pet tech experience is a plus.
• 8+ years of analytics experience with senior ownership of production analytics data models and standards.
• Advanced SQL skills with designing, debugging, and optimizing complex transformations.
• Deep dbt experience including scalable model architecture, testing, incremental models, documentation, macros, and production deployment.
• Strong Databricks experience: Delta Lake, Spark SQL, Workflows/Jobs, Unity Catalog, performance tuning.
• Experience with medallion architectures and lakehouse data models across bronze, silver, and gold.
• Strong Python for data processing, testing, validation, automation, and engineering utilities.
• Experience with modern engineering practices: Git, CI/CD, code reviews, automated testing, orchestration, and environment management.

Responsibilities

• Own analytics engineering work, including roadmap, priorities, standards, and operating practices.
• Design and evolve analytics architecture with clear data-layer responsibilities.
• Build and optimize dbt models transforming source data into analytics-ready datasets.
• Write and optimize advanced SQL; use Python for transformations and automation.
• Develop dimensional data models for dashboards, self-service analysis, and data products.
• Establish KPI definitions, data contracts, ownership, and authoritative sources.
• Implement automated tests, data quality checks, documentation, lineage, and monitoring.
• Partner with Data Engineering on ingestion and platform performance.
• Collaborate with analysts and BI teams to translate requirements into scalable models.
• Improve Databricks performance and cost efficiency through design and tuning.
• Lead data-quality investigations and root-cause analysis; communicate findings.
• Strengthen data governance with access controls and stewardship.
