Job summary

Block, Inc. in New York (remote) is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to own telemetry instrumentation, data pipelines, and executive-facing reporting for AI/DX initiatives.

You will define new metrics, build governance-ready data, and present analysis that guides AI ROI and developer experience decisions. You will collaborate with data engineering, applied AI, and data science teams to deliver trustworthy signals, and you’ll use AI coding agents as part of the workflow to ship reliable

Qualifications

• 8+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or BI owning production data pipelines and insights end to end.
• Strong SQL and Python, with hands-on experience building and operating data pipelines against a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake.
• Experience partnering with engineering teams to instrument new event or telemetry data, not only transforming what's already captured.
• Experience building dashboards or internal tools that non-technical stakeholders rely on to make decisions.
• Comfort with git, CI/CD systems, and debugging production pipeline failures such as retries and backfills.
• Experience with a metrics-governance or semantic-layer system, such as a metrics store, dbt semantic layer, or LookML.

Responsibilities

• Instrument and extend raw telemetry about AI usage, code changes, CI/CD activity, and spend to build new data capture and governance.
• Partner with data engineers on production ETL pipelines that land telemetry into governed tables with freshness monitoring and alerts.
• Define new metrics from evolving signals and validate them until they are trusted by stakeholders.
• Build and ship executive-facing dashboards and visualizations that turn metrics into decision-ready reporting.
• Run analyses and defend methodology to senior stakeholders, translating complex findings into a clear narrative.
