Job summary

Block is hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer to own parts of our AI & DX analytics pipeline end to end. You will instrument new telemetry, build production pipelines, and turn governed data into executive-facing reporting that informs AI investment decisions and boosts developer experience.

You will define metrics, visualize them with clear narratives, and advocate for improvements across data engineering, applied AI, and data science teams. AI agents are a core tool in your workflow.

Qualifications

• Self-sufficient across the full analytics loop: instrumentation, pipeline building, metric definition, and dashboards.
• Able to work with messy, evolving telemetry and validate numbers before presenting.
• Strong product thinker who derives what stakeholders need from metrics and charts.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and setting new standards in AI/agent productivity measurement.

Responsibilities

• Instrument and extend telemetry about AI usage, code changes, CI/CD activity, and spend.
• Build and maintain production ETL pipelines landing telemetry into governed tables with monitoring.
• Define new metrics from evolving signals and earn stakeholder trust in the numbers.
• Create executive-facing dashboards and visualizations for decision-ready reporting.
• Run analyses and provide recommendations, defending methodology to executives.
• Translate complex findings into clear narrative and actionable insights.
• Collaborate across data engineering, applied AI, and data science teams to keep telemetry connected end-to-end.
• Push frontier work quantifying AI and agent productivity impact and influence tooling or investments.
