Job summary

Zillow Group is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to design, build, and operate production-grade AI systems for mortgage Fulfillment. You will own end-to-end architecture, evaluation, and core infrastructure for agent-based workflows, ensuring reliability and scalability in a regulated environment.

You'll collaborate with Encompass admins and platform partners to advance requirements, drive design decisions, and mentor peers through code reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven experience owning an AI/ML system in production end-to-end.
• Hands-on in two areas: eval pipelines, model serving, or third-party integrations.
• Strong infrastructure instincts; awareness of timeouts, race conditions, retries.
• Bias toward measurement; define success and build tooling.
• Comfort with ambiguity and deep expertise in a domain.
• Equivalent combo of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and build multi-step AI agents coordinating Fulfillment workflows.
• Build eval frameworks measuring reliability, accuracy, and completion.
• Architect and operate core agent infrastructure and observability.
• Integrate with platforms like Encompass and DocuTech.
• Collaborate with Encompass admins, Fulfillment ops, and Platform engineers.
• Set engineering best practices in testing, monitoring, and incident response.
