Job summary

Senior Specialist, Software Engineering, Systems at Zillow Group leads design, build, and operation of scalable, secure cloud-native infrastructure and platform services for thousands of Zillow applications. You will automate deployment workflows, mentor engineers, and partner with product teams to improve availability, performance, and developer productivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, SRE, DevOps, or related roles.
• Experience designing and operating cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containers, and IaC tools (Terraform or similar).
• Strong experience with CI/CD, observability tooling, and incident response in production.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java.
• Experience using AI to build software and automation for infrastructure and productivity.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex systems engineering initiatives and automate infrastructure and deployment workflows.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to improve availability, performance, and developer productivity.
• Design operable services and drive platform capabilities adoption.
• Architect, implement, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure for large-scale distributed apps.
• Lead CI/CD pipeline design and automation, including infrastructure-as-code.
• Improve observability, monitoring, and incident response across the stack.
• Mentor engineers on systems design and DevOps/SRE practices.
• Troubleshoot complex production incidents and perform root cause analysis.
