Job summary

Virta Health is seeking an experienced accountant to join its remote-first finance team. You will prepare journal entries, analyses, and reconciliations, while driving automation and AI-enabled improvements to the monthly close and reporting processes.

You will analyze financial statements, assist with audits and reviews, and help document internal controls in a fast-growing, privacy-conscious environment. This role emphasizes accuracy, leadership, and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 3–4 years of experience with public or private accounting mix.
• CPA preferred.
• Experience in revenue recognition, inventory, stock-based compensation, debt/equity financing, business combinations or investments.
• Experience leveraging automation, AI tools, or advanced technology to improve accounting processes, reporting, reconciliations, or close efficiency.
• Ability to read and analyze financial statements/reports.
• Comfort with ambiguity and lack of formally defined processes.
• Public company exposure preferred (Audit or industry).
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Comfort working in a fully remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, analyses and account reconciliations.
• Help maintain and improve month-end close processes, including monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Identify opportunities to leverage automation, AI-enabled tools, and process improvements to reduce manual work and accelerate the close.
• Respond to information requests and assist with audits and quarterly reviews.
• Analyze financial statements and GL accounts to monitor fluctuations and ensure consistency.
• Prepare operational and ad hoc reporting for financial statement areas.
• Identify areas of financial risk and implement controls.
