Job summary

Soteria, a Charleston-based cybersecurity advisory firm, is seeking a Security Advisor to join the fast-paced GRC team. You will assess risk, evaluate controls, and guide clients toward stronger security postures with clear, well-documented findings.

Successful candidates will have solid technical grounding, strong project management, requirements gathering, and client communication skills. Remote work with some travel is possible, and you will work with executives and teams to deliver

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience in the cybersecurity space.
• 2+ years in cybersecurity consulting, IT audits or assessments.
• Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST CSF, CMMC, ISO 27001, CIS Controls.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office; Advanced Excel is a plus.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform control gap, risk, and compliance assessments for client security programs.
• Develop and perform social engineering simulations (phishing, vishing) and training.
• Provide project management to ensure assessment delivery is on time and meets client needs.
• Identify gaps in controls and make recommendations based on regulatory frameworks.
• Conduct interviews with clients and team to evaluate IT environments and security practices.
• Produce executive summary reports and detailed findings with recommendations.
• Assist with policy and procedure development and remediation planning.
• Support Advisory team across Trust Advisory/vCISO, risk/gap assessments, IR readiness, and BCP/DR planning.
