Job summary

GovCIO is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join cross-functional product teams delivering federal digital services on AWS GovCloud. The role is fully remote within CONUS and focuses on automation-first testing across stories and sprints.

You will design tests, build automated suites with Cypress/Playwright, and ensure quality from refinement to deployment. The SDET works closely with developers, DevOps, and QA to create test data, run end-to-end tests, and report on

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 2-5 years of experience.
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident; CONUS residency.
• Experience in test automation using Cypress or Playwright.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data validation and scripting.
• Experience testing in AWS environments including S3 and CloudWatch.
• Strong communication and Agile/Scrum testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan testing for each story and maintain automated tests.
• Design, implement, and execute functional, regression, and performance tests.
• Build and maintain Cypress/Playwright test suites and integrate into CI/CD (DevOps).
• Create test data, run positive/negative tests, and report coverage metrics.
• Perform root-cause analysis and improve test coverage with developers.
• Report daily updates in Jira and write their own user stories and tasks.
• Support UAT, security/compliance work, and PHI/PII safeguards.
