Job summary

GovCIO is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join cross-functional product teams building and modernizing federal digital services on AWS GovCloud. The role is fully remote within CONUS and focuses on automation-first testing in a Scrum environment.

The SDET will design tests, build automated suites, and work across API, UI, and data layers, ensuring quality from refinement through release. Candidates should have 2–5 years of relevant experience and a U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's with 2-5 years (or commensurate experience).
• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• Test automation using Cypress or Playwright; automated REST API testing with Postman or scripted tests.
• SQL for data validation; Python for test scripting and data handling.
• Experience with AWS environments (S3, CloudWatch).
• Agile testing in Scrum; use Jira/Xray/Confluence for reporting and traceability.
• Experience building and maintaining automated test suites; CI/CD integration.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and implements testing methods to ensure product performance.
• Plans and coordinates testing labor, schedules, and equipment.
• Creates test plans, test scripts, and scenarios; conducts functional and regression tests.
• Builds and maintains automated test suites; integrates into CI/CD with DevOps
• Monitors test metrics and reports defects; analyzes failures for root cause.
