Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join cross-functional teams building federal digital services on AWS GovCloud. The role emphasizes automation-first testing, stabilizing tests, and collaborating across scrum teams to ensure quality from refinement through release.

The candidate will design, implement, and maintain automated tests (UI/API/Perf), manage test data and environments, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of related experience.
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident; must reside in CONUS.
• Experience with test automation tools (Cypress/Playwright) and REST API testing.
• Proficient with Python and SQL for data testing/validation.
• Experience in AWS environments (S3/CloudWatch) and agile/Scrum.
• Strong communication and ability to write clear Jira updates and user stories.

Responsibilities

• Plan testing for each story and build automated tests.
• Develop and maintain end-to-end, integration, and performance tests.
• Manage test data, test environments, and CI/CD integration on AWS GovCloud.
• Audit tests, ensure coverage, and report metrics.
• Collaborate with developers to improve test coverage and quality.
• Produce daily Jira updates and write/own user stories and tasks.
