Job summary

GovCIO is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join cross-functional product teams building and modernizing federal digital services on AWS GovCloud. This remote CONUS role emphasizes automation, test planning, and end-to-end quality across stories and sprints.

The SDET will design and run positive/negative tests, build automated suites with Cypress/Playwright, and integrate tests into CI/CD. Strong experience in AWS, REST APIs, SQL, Python, and Jira/Xray/Confluence is needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's with 2-5 years (or commensurate experience).
• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• Must reside and work within the Continental United States (CONUS).
• Test automation experience with Cypress or Playwright plus at least one other framework; explain architectural differences if needed.
• Automated REST API testing with Postman or scripted tests.
• SQL for data validation; Python for test scripting and data work at scale.
• Experience testing in AWS environments, including S3 and CloudWatch.
• Jira, Xray and Confluence for test management and reporting.
• Full range of test techniques: positive/negative cases; boundary value analyses.
• Clear written and verbal communication; daily Jira updates and ownership mindset.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and implements testing methods to ensure product performance.
• Plans labor, schedules, and equipment for testing.
• Designs test cases and creates test scenarios; reports defects.
• Automates tests; participates in test walkthroughs and CI/CD integration.
• Monitors test performance and reports metrics for continuous improvement.
• Collaborates with development to improve coverage and quality.
• Tests data stores with SQL and validates outputs.
• Audits unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; maintains regression suites.
• Supports UAT, 508 staging reviews, and security/compliance work.
