GovCIO is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join cross-functional teams building and modernizing federal digital services on AWS GovCloud.

The role is fully remote within CONUS and requires hands-on, automation-first testing across frontend, API, and ML/IDP features. You will own test plans, build automated suites, and contribute to security and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s with 2-5 years (or commensurate experience).
• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• Must reside and work within the Continental United States (CONUS).
• Test automation (minimum): Cypress or Playwright plus at least one other framework.
• Automated REST API testing with Postman or scripted tests.
• SQL for data validation. Python for test scripting and for working with data at scale.
• Able to test systems built on machine learning and deep learning, especially LLMs and vision models.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment to ensure product performance.
• Plans and arranges labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing.
• Designs test cases and creates test scenarios for execution.
• Automates test suites and reports test coverage and results.
• Maintains CI/CD pipelines with DevOps integration.
• Owns regression testing and decides what must be re-tested in what order.
• Audits tests with developers and improves coverage and quality.
