Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Software Developer in Test (SDET) with strong programming skills for a 100% remote, full-time role supporting the Veterans Affairs (VA) department.

Ideal candidates have experience in C#, Java, or Python, plus hands-on automation, test planning, and CI/CD tooling. U.S. Citizenship is required and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and SDLC.
• Proficiency in writing and executing test cases and scripts.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Subversion).
• Knowledge of SQL for validating stored data.
• Experience testing web apps, APIs, and services.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test procedures to ensure systems meet requirements.
• Write test cases and scripts and identify data for test scenarios.
• Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers and Developers on test artifacts.
• Perform and lead tests to ensure proper operation and defect-free software.
• Document and communicate test results and assist in issue resolution.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting; support risk-based testing.
• Provide technical solutions to difficult problems and contribute to project goals.
