Job summary

Pearson is seeking evaluators to score New York teacher candidate responses from home, supporting licensed subjects such as Business, Health, Physical Education, School Counselor, and Theater. You will apply scoring standards, participate in discussions with fellow scorers, and help uphold professional standards.

Starting rate is $17.50 per hour, remote with training sessions; applicants must hold current teaching certification or a recent degree in the content area and be eligible to work in

Qualifications

• A current teaching certification in the subject area and current or recent teaching in schools (public or private) within the last three years (including regular substitute)
• Or educators from colleges or universities who have taught or advised a content relevant field within the last three years
• Or hold a degree in the content area and have held professional employment in the content area within the last three years
• Basic computer skills (keyboard, mouse)
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time
• Ability to maintain a confidential work environment
• Eligible to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Evaluate responses to test questions by New York teacher candidates
• Internalize scoring standards, participate in discussions, and engage with other scorers in consensus scoring activities
• Recognize and discuss various types of bias and effect strategies to reduce personal biases in scoring
• Meet quality and productivity requirements established for the scoring program, including passing a qualifying test before scoring
• Starting rate of $17.50 per hour
