Job summary

UnitedHealthcare At Home is seeking an Outpatient Coding Specialist to join our full-time team. You will expertly assign ICD-10, CPT, and modifiers for facility services, adhere to coding guidelines, and maintain high quality and productivity standards.

The role requires AHIMA/AAPC credentials and 2+ years of ICD-10/CPT experience plus acute surgery exposure; Excel and EMR proficiency are essential. Telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. is supported.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• AHIMA or AAPC credential to be maintained annually.
• Minimum 2+ years of ICD-10, CPT and modifiers experience.
• 2+ years of experience in acute surgery.
• Proficient in Excel and EMR systems; strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Expert knowledge of all facility outpatient coding types, including Same Day Surgery.
• Assign ICD-10, CPT and modifiers per guidelines and client policies.
• Adhere to AAPC/AHIMA ethical coding standards and internal quality targets.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity as required by Optum.
• Understand APC codes and Medicare guidelines relevant to services.
• Query physicians when clarification is needed.
• Keep up-to-date coding knowledge; participate in department meetings.
• Work with QM/Coding Ops managers on quality initiatives.
• Additional duties as assigned by management.
