Job summary

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking an experienced Robotics Software Engineer to design, build, and integrate software for autonomous robotic platforms. You will work across the full robotics stack, from sensor integration and perception to planning and control, collaborating with product, design, and hardware teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Five or more years of robotics software engineering experience.
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
• Hands-on experience with ROS or ROS 2 in production projects.
• Solid experience with perception, localization, motion planning, or control.
• Familiarity with sensor fusion and Kalman/particle filter techniques.
• Experience with simulation environments (Gazebo, Isaac Sim, MuJoCo).
• Strong debugging skills in real-time and concurrent systems.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Experience supporting field tests and hardware integration.

Responsibilities

• Develop robotics software in C++ and Python with emphasis on real-time performance.
• Design and integrate sensor data pipelines from cameras, LiDAR, IMUs, and proprioceptive sensors.
• Implement perception, localization, and mapping algorithms including SLAM and sensor fusion.
• Develop motion planning and trajectory generation respecting constraints for safe robot behavior.
• Build behavioral systems using state machines, BTs, or planners.
• Integrate ROS/ROS 2 with hardware and embedded systems.
• Implement safety-critical patterns like watchdogs and fault detection.
• Build and use Gazebo/Isaac Sim for development and testing.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and ML engineers on requirements and standards.
• Design and execute field tests with data collection and analysis.
• Maintain comprehensive architecture docs, runbooks, and procedures.
• Mentor junior engineers through code/design reviews and pair programming.
• Evaluate emerging robotics technologies and make informed recommendations.
