Job summary

61st Street Service Corporation invites applications for a Customer Service Specialist II to support ColumbiaDoctors, handling patient calls and billing inquiries.

The role is predominantly remote for residents of the Tri-State area (NY/NJ/CT) with occasional office visits for training and meetings. You will manage collections, set payment plans, and update patient records while delivering professional service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in physician billing or third party payer environment.
• Understanding contracts, insurance benefits, exclusions and billing requirements.
• Ability to understand payer adjudication process.
• Experience with medical terminology is preferred.
• Previous call center/academic healthcare setting experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle a high volume of calls promptly and professionally.
• Attempt to collect full payment from patient or guarantor.
• Establish payment arrangements and document terms in billing system.
• Apply payments to the date of service and update demographics.
• Respond to inquiries, disputes and complaints, escalating when needed.
• Gather insurance and demographic information and update patient records.
