Job summary

61st Street Service Corporation is seeking a Customer Service Specialist II to support ColumbiaDoctors remotely in the Tri-State area. The role handles high-volume calls from patients, insurers and physician offices, focusing on resolving balances and arranging payments.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED certificate required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in physician billing or third party payer environment.
• Understanding of contracts, insurance benefits, exclusions and other billing requirements including claim forms, HMOs, PPOs, Medicare, Medicaid and compliance program regulations.
• Ability to understand payer adjudication process.
• Experience with Epic or other electronic billing systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• Previous call center/claims experience in an academic healthcare setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Expeditiously handle large volume of calls.
• Attempt to collect full payment from patient or guarantor.
• Establish payment arrangements per guidelines and document terms in billing system.
• Apply payments collected over the phone to each date of service.
• Handle customer inquiries, disputes and complaints; escalate to supervisor as needed.
• Obtain insurance, demographic, guarantor information and update patient profile and bill third party payers as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as required and assigned.
