Job summary

Guidant Financial is hiring a Retirement Plan Operations Specialist to learn and administer 401(k) plans from home. You will review client documents, assist with annual reporting, and help with 5500 filings as you progress from document review to plan administration.

This role emphasizes accelerated learning, client updates, and education on plan administration. Strong Excel skills and experience in back-office operations are valued.

Qualifications

• Experience with document review and transaction processing as daily job responsibilities.
• 1 to 5 years of adjacent back-office financial operations experience in one or more areas listed.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Direct retirement-plan operations experience, including 401(k) or IRA administration, recordkeeping, distributions and rollovers, compliance testing, or 5500 or year-end reporting, is preferred.
• Experience with reconciliation as a daily job responsibility is preferred.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field such as business or finance, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of 401(k) plan structure, ROBS, and IRS/DOL regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with clients to obtain necessary information to prepare the annual reporting.
• Review documents submitted by clients for completeness and accuracy.
• Reconcile plans with only rollovers and plan stock using Excel and administration software.
• Utilize administration software to complete 401(k) testing and reporting.
• Make outgoing reminder calls and send emails to clients during the plan year reporting process.
• Prepare required 401(k) plan government filings, including the IRS Form 5500, using filing software.
• Educate clients regarding the administration of their 401(k) plan and 401(k) plan documents.
