Job summary

Nelnet, Inc. is seeking a Recovery Specialist II to work with borrowers in Lincoln, NE or Brownsville, TX within a 60‑mile radius. You will contact borrowers by phone, mail, and email to arrange payments and educate them on the seriousness of delinquencies. The position emphasizes customer service, analytical skills, and attention to detail.

HS diploma required; 2 years in customer service or collections preferred. Schedule M-F 11:30 a.m. CST–8:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• 2 years customer service, collection and general work experience preferred.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Contact borrowers via telephone, mail, and email to establish payment arrangements.
• Determine the best action to resolve past due accounts and negotiate plans.
• Actively perform skip-tracing to locate borrowers.
• Update demographic and account information in the servicing system.
• Perform related collection activities and prepare required reports.
