Job summary

Nelnet is seeking a dedicated collections associate in the Lincoln, NE area. The role requires a high school diploma and about 2 years of customer service or collection experience. You will contact borrowers to arrange payment plans, locate accounts, and explain options while updating records for accuracy.

The position features a schedule Monday–Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. CST with pay at $15.75/hour and potential monthly commission up to $1,250, plus a robust benefits package.

Job Description Summary

To be considered for this role you must meet the following location requirement:

Lincoln, NE (within a 60 mile radius)

Brownsville, TX (within a 60 mile radius)

Pay: $15.75/hour

Potential to earn commission up to $1250.00 per month

Schedule: Monday-Friday 11:30 a.m. CST- 8:00 p.m. CST

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Commit to Performance Based Organization (PBO) & Easy To Do Business With (ETDBW) philosophy
• 2. Contribute to Continuous Process Improvement
• 3. Contact borrowers via telephone, mail, and email to establish payment arrangements to rectify outstanding delinquencies on accounts
• 4. Determine the most appropriate plan of action to resolve past due accounts. Strong negotiation will be used to establish borrower payment plans
• 5. Actively perform skip-tracing activities through various sources/tools in order to locate borrowers
• 6. Provide pertinent account information and history information in order to educate the borrowers as to the seriousness of the issue at hand
• 7. Update demographic and other additional information on borrower accounts via the servicing system
• 8. Perform additional collection activities related to collections documents and reports

EDUCATION

High school degree or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE

2 year customer service, collection and general work experience preferred.
