Job summary

Square is seeking a software/data engineer to join the Recon and Reporting team. You will own ingestion, reconciliation, and reporting systems that process global settlement data and support tax and regulatory reporting for merchants and authorities worldwide.

You will build features across pipelines, ensure accuracy, automate processes, and collaborate with finance, tax, and compliance partners to improve reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software or data engineering experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience building or maintaining batch- or event-driven data pipelines and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in at least one major programming language (Java/Python/Go) and solid SQL.
• Experience delivering well-scoped projects end-to-end with guidance from engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own small, well-bounded projects end-to-end with guidance: clarify requirements, design, build, test, ship, and follow up.
• Build and maintain features within ingestion and reconciliation pipelines to match reports against internal data.
• Contribute to tooling for end-to-end traceability of money throughout the system.
• Develop reporting and reconciliation features that are accurate, reliable, and scalable for internal and external users.
• Produce journals and summaries feeding downstream accounting and audit.
