Job summary

Translation Excellence, Inc. is seeking Quiché linguists for remote real-time translation to support federal and local law enforcement.

You will translate and transcribe from foreign languages into English, decode slang, and extract pertinent information for clients, using government-approved tools. Responsibilities include listening to intercepts, maintaining slang lists, producing court-ready transcripts, and meeting productivity targets while working on a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 3+ years in a professional setting or an Associate with 5+ years or a HS diploma with 7+ years of experience.
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Familiar with source language colloquialisms and SMS language, social media and Webchat
• Ability to obtain a law enforcement sensitive clearance
• Excellent verbal and written skills in source and target languages; strong grammar, punctuation, and spelling
• Minimum typing speed of 45 WPM
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to translate/transcribe 18–22 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8-hour day
• Available to work a minimum of 32 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Listen to oral intercepts in English or foreign language and provide verbal and written synopsis
• Contribute to master slang/ codes lists for the project duration
• Maintain a voice library for the project duration
• Transcribe and translate calls and messages during low activity periods
• Produce court-ready transcriptions and translations in required format
• Use government-provided reference tools
• Maintain a daily productivity log
• Operate government-approved computer systems and MS Office suite
• Testify based on completed work product
