Job summary

Syms Strategic Group is seeking a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer for a fully remote role. The candidate will work on quantum-resistant algorithms, PQC implementation, and cryptographic modernization for federal clients.

The role requires deep expertise in quantum mechanics, cryptography standards, and cross-functional collaboration, with a strong emphasis on policy guidance and risk communication to leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years IT experience with quantum computing and cryptography in large orgs or government.
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, algorithms, and information theory.
• Proficiency with PQC standards and NIST guidance.
• Experience with quantum programming tools and simulations.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Implement and test cryptographic algorithms using Python, C++, and Java.
• Advise on migration to quantum-resistant algorithms and PQC plans.
• Assess cryptographic inventory and prioritize migrations.
• Communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership.
• Provide policy inputs aligned with NIST PQC standards (FIPS 203-205).
