Job summary

ABB is seeking a Quality Engineer in the US to lead customer communications on quality issues and act as the design authority for mid-to high-complexity projects. The role blends engineering with commercial engagement to ensure successful delivery.

The position requires a Bachelor's (or Master’s) in Electrical Engineering with substantial experience in electrical distribution or power systems, strong communication skills, and the ability to work remotely with 40% travel to customer sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 7+ years' experience in electrical distribution or power systems.
• Master's degree with 5+ years' experience in electrical distribution or power systems.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Proficiency in MS Office, MS Teams, and ability to leverage AI tools in job functions.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to establish and nurture partnership relationships with ABB Product management, engineering, and service.
• Candidates must already have work authorization to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities

• Serve as ABB's primary customer contact for quality and technical issues, leading communications, onsite support, action plans, and resolution timelines.
• Act as the technical and design authority for engineering deliverables on moderate- to high-complexity projects.
• Review and approve designs, perform verification and peer reviews, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, contractual, and as-built documentation requirements.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges while communicating product gaps, customer needs, and market trends to commercial and product management teams.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, testing, commissioning, service, supply chain, sales, and product management to ensure successful project execution.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects, including work plans, cost estimates, RFQs, supplier evaluations, project meetings, contract variations, and timely delivery of engineering outputs.
