Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Performance Engineer II to oversee day-to-day operations on solar, storage, and substation projects. The role supports remote or hybrid work with in-office presence in San Diego, CA or Bend, OR, coordinating data, testing, and performance analytics to optimize fleet efficiency.

The incumbent will lead engineers, collaborate across teams, and deliver accurate reports, models, and forecasts while maintaining safety and project standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, science, or related technical discipline.
• 4+ years’ PV performance engineering and data analytics experience.
• Experience with PV modeling software: PVSyst, PlantPredict, SAM, etc.
• Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Programming experience in Python, VBA, MATLAB, Java preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of time.
• Broad Renewable Energy industry understanding; service/construction focus.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to mentor Performance Engineers & Analysts.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operational activities across active projects.
• Coordinate data collection, reports, acceptance tests, and analytics deliverables.
• On-board active projects into internal Performance Team platforms.
• Track issues and optimize fleet performance with internal teams and vendors.
• Analyze energy losses and performance impacts from outages or underperformance.
• Lead engineers and analysts in coordinating operational activities.
• Maintain site design and equipment understanding for projects.
• Update client reports and commissioning/test reports and forecasts.
• Support field prioritization and issue resolution with OEMs and technicians.
• Review turnover docs to identify root causes of failures.
• Run PV system energy models using PVsyst and similar tools.
