Job summary

Univera Healthcare is seeking an experienced Publishing Systems Engineer to design, develop, and maintain electronic publishing workflows for transactional documents. This role progressively supports Level I–III responsibilities, including coding, testing, and documentation, with focus on data-driven composition and workflow automation.

Candidates should have a computer science background, experience with Variable Data, and familiarity with HP Exstream, Quadient Inspire, and document management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Associate degree in Computer Science or Electronic Printing with 2+ years’ experience, or combination of education and experience with programming.
• Experience using Variable Data composition.
• Knowledge of integration tools such as HP Command Center, HP Exstream, Elixir Tango, Quadient Inspire is a plus.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, proofreading, and teamwork.
• Knowledge of publication layout and design.
• Familiarity with SQL, Oracle, DB2, or similar.
• Familiarity with XML, SGML, HTML, or similar data structures.
• Familiarity with Java and shell scripts, or other web programming language.
• Familiarity with Control-D, Filenet, Alfresco.
• Similar experiences considered.
• Proven proficiency in desktop publishing, word processing, and electronic office systems.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Level I: Develops code; analyzes, researches, and resolves system issues for electronic publishing-related problems.
• Creates, maintains, and updates workflows and documents using xml and text data in variable data composition systems.
• Documents functional specs and solutions; assists in testing and implementation plans.
• Participates in requirement planning and analysis sessions; mentors junior staff.
• Maintains privacy and adheres to corporate policies; participates in on-call rotation.
• Level II: Provides second-tier troubleshooting for electronic publishing apps; analyzes data-related issues.
• Participates in projects as SME for transactional documents and correspondence.
• Mentors Associate Developers; stays current with tools and techniques for project management and programming.
• Level III: Assists with system design/architecture; monitors hardware and software platforms; mentors more junior staff.
